Morningstar has a portfolio analyzer tool called X-Ray, which is a subscription product. However, you can sign up for a free trial to review and try out its features. X-Ray tool allows you to disaggregate your portfolio into its component measures (such as asset classes, style maps, sectors, geographical spread, financial metrics and position overlap).
The first measure is the asset allocation of your portfolio. Both the long and short exposures to each asset class is reported.
The X-Ray tool provides the stocks and bonds style map for your portfolio. The stock style map shows your portfolio’s exposure to small/mid/large caps and value/growth companies. The bond style map lays out the average duration across long/mid/short term bond holdings and their credit quality. Please refer to “Types of Asset Classes” for more information on style maps.
Your portfolio exposure to different asset classes (Cyclical, Defensive, etc.) and security types (High Yield, Aggressive Growth, etc.) along with a comparison to the S&P 500 is provided.
The geographical spread of your portfolio by continents is reported.
Key financial metrics of your portfolio compared to the S&P 500 index are reported.
The tool also reports on individual position overlap from various ETFs and Mutual Funds. You may be surprised to find out how much of popular stocks you actually hold through your ETFs and Funds.
